HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. So HIV is the virus that attacks a person’s immune system making him/her prone to infections. On the other hand, AIDS i.e. Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is the medical condition caused due to the compromised immune system that has been attacked by HIV.
